Lately, I have been watching alot of the channel TLC's "A Makeover Story." This is a really cool T.V. show, centered around doing (what else!!) makeovers! If you haven't seen the show already, you should watch it sometime. First, they take a look in the 2 people's closets. This cn be very scary, because usually the people have one recurring fashion problem. Some common problems: "Stuck in the eighties", "showing too much skin for a mother", "all jeans no dressy", and my favorite "The too many miss-matched patterns." (its surprising how many people think stripes go well with floral patterns or polka dots....) Then they move on to shopping. The people seperately go to the salon, and get their hair, make-up, and nails done. This is the part i like the most, because you can see the difference the most. Then at the end they get to see eachother. (there is usually lots of screaming and crying at this part.) Yous should watch this show!!!

hey~
ok i have a question and if anyone knows the answer, please e-mail it to me at horseloverlmh@yahoo.com. ok here is the question~
~Is it possible to get a cold in the summertime??? (a day late....) Ususally we find ourselves out of town on Independence Day, but this year we were at home! we went to the city parade in the afternoon, which i havent been to in a long time. it was really fun, but really hot outside. there were lots of floats, and alot of kids from various activities. This year i also found that the Shriners have upgraded themselves from driving little motorycles to driving high-powered go-karts. When we got home we waited for it to get dark, and then set off some of our own fireworks. I wish there were more fireworks legal in Minnesota, though. My family loves fireworks, and we usually set off as many explosives as we can! We can only do this when we are at my grandparents house for the 4th of july, because they live in South Dakota. If you didnt know already, you can set off pretty much anything in South Dakota and they wouldnt care. This year, we mostly had to set off the little fountains and firecrackers. A little juvenile, but at least they were legal. In South Dakota the ones we set off are considered "Kiddie Corner" material. They are stil fun to watch though!!
In the evening, we went to the city fireworks display. The fireworks this year were really good!! There were lots of red white and blue themed fireworks, and many other colorful ones.
Well I hope you had a great Independence Day!!!
~aThDaNcEr~

Hi~
This week has been a really fun and packed week! On Tuesday, I went to a friend's house for awhile and then we went to Valleyfair for the afternoon! Puppykid and athdancer are more adventurous when it comes to rides than I am. Puppykid is not quite tall enough for some of the rides, but athdancer went on a few ones you would have to hold a gun to my head to get me to go on!! It was warm and sunny and a lot of fun! On Wednesday, I babysat in the morning (a 3 day old baby, which was fun), and then my friend's mom picked me up and took me, my friend, and my friend's sister to the mall. We shopped for awhile, and then headed back to their house. Another one of our friends came over later and we went swimming. We had a sleepover and all spent Thursday at the barn. Everyone had riding lessons and we just hung out. It was lots of fun. Today was Friday and I cleaned my room and the bathroom most of the day. This weekend is 4th of July weekend. We usually head out to our grandparent's house, but since we are going out there in a few weeks, we're just staying home and going to the parade here, I think. Well, I'm gonna go now~~
~~Horselover~~

Hi! Today is Sunday, so we went to church this morning. It's kind of rainy today...Not too nice out. It's been cold for the past 2 weeks...Basically all of our summer vacation so far. It is kind of weird how the last 2 weeks of school were so nice and warm, and the second we got out, it was freezing. Anyway, today I am hanging out for awhile and then going to ride my horse, Rebel. I'm hoping some of the other girls will be out there, too. It's always fun when other people are there, but It's also nice to go alone because it usually takes less time, and you get more serious practicing in. Then, I think I'm going to come home and swim for awhile, or maybe do something with a friend. Summer is so nice because there's no homework and every day is like a Saturday. This week is pretty low-key also. I'm getting together with some friends on Tuesday, and spending the night at a friend's on Wednesday. I'm babysitting one morning and the spending the day at the barn on Thursday. Anyway...Finals turned out pretty well, although I spent many many hours studying and didn't think I did so well, I ended with a 3.92 GPA for the entire year, which was a nice surprise!! But, so far this summer, I've been really busy. Last week was the first real week of my summer, because 3 days after school got out, I left for Milwaukee for Regionals (horseback riding). I was gone for 5 days, and it was TONS of fun. Not only was the showing part fun, but hanging out with friends was also cool. It was my first Regionals, and I won a champion, so I was very excited about that. I also got a top 5 (the 3 judges pick the top 5 horses/riders in the class, and one is reserve champ. and one is champ. and the other 3 are top 5s) in a big class, which was also exciting. Im not sure when my next show is...we still have to decide which ones we're going to go to. So, that's what I've been doing lately!
~~~HoRsElOvEr~~~
Hi!! Sorry I haven't posted for so long. I've been pretty busy. I went to Japan a few weeks ago. We stopped off in Hawaii for a weekend on the way. We stayed on Waikiki beach. In Japan, we stayed at a really nice hotel. We were in Osaka. We did a lot of shopping while my Dad was working. We went to a big shopping mall and we went to see a lot of temples and historic sites. There are some different foods in Japan, like horse, whale, squid and whole baby fish. I didn't eat them, but my parents did. I was sleeping by the time they ate the horse. My Dad went to a Japanese baseball game and had a lot of fun. The fans hit their bats together and sang and chanted all the time. At the end they let go of balloons. It was very pretty.
When we went out, sometimes Japanese kids would come up to us and want to have their pictures taken with me or my sister Ali. This picture is of some Japanese first graders (just like me!):
The last day we were in Japan, I got a kimono. This is a picture of my with my Mom and my sister Ali, wearing my new kimono in the lobby of our hotel:
I had a good trip to Japan (except for the plane ride!).
Today I had a really fun day! I had the Gemlines Dance Competition in Faribault. My kickline team, the Sparklers, did really well! We got second place out of eight teams. I was really happy with the results! We danced to the song "Everybody Can-Can" from the movie "Moulin Rouge." The song is also mixed with a real french can-can song, too. Its a really cool dance, and i can't wait until our next competition. Our costumes look really good, but theyre really uncomfortable to wear! they are black with a pink panel in the front with purple criss-crosses. it has a black skirt with purple trim. the only thing i don't like about our dance is that we have to wear fake eyelashes. They feel like you have feathers on your eyes. Theyre really hard to dance in!!! Other than that, though, it was a really fun competition!
Hey everyone! Right now I am watching the grammy awards. Alot of singers have performed so far, and all have been really good! Martina McBride's performance was great. She sang "Concrete Angel." Christina Aguilara's and Celine Dion's songs were good too. Beyonce's performances were both great, she has an awesome voice. The best speech of the evening has been made by Outkast. Usually, the speeches drag on and on and on... Example: I would like to thank my mom, and my dad, and my friend sally, and my friend mike, and my friends uncles cousins sisters daughters uncles second cousins.... Not Outkast. Here was the entire speech: "Thank you." In my opinion, that was the best speech of all of them. Another one of my favorite things about these awards shows is that you can look at all of the cool outfits the singers wear. Beyonce's dress when she sang "Dangerously in Love" was really pretty. It was a teal color with flowers on one of the sides of the dress. Martina McBride's, Sarah Mclauchlan's (sorry if i spelled it wrong), and Alison Krauss's dresses were also very pretty. Well, thats the report for now, I have to go to bed soon. More reports later.
I whent to miracle ,the movie. My Dad was already there because he was working. We saw the place where they filmed parts of the Harry Potter movies. This was the same place where Alice in Wonderland lived. It was in Oxford. (We were in the country for a while too.) When I was in London we saw Buckingham Palace. Here it is:
We also went to Westminster Abbey. It's like an old church with statues of famous poets and composers. Some kings and queens and princes and princesses are buried there. We saw Big Ben too:
In London they say "chips" instead of French fries. If you order lemonade you get Sprite. A "toastie" is a grilled cheese. If you want chips, you have to ask for "crisps." In London they have pretty red phone booths. Here are Athdancer and I in one of them:
We saw lots of sheep in the country. When Athdancer came over they all came running at her. All you could hear was "baaaa." In the country we stayed in Chipping Campden. We stayed at a hotel called the Cotswold House. In London, we stayed at the Sloane Club. I drank tea there.
I just re-discovered my password, so that's why I haven't posted for a long time. I love watching the pageant, and i try to watch it every year. This year, the lady who won was from Florida. She was very pretty, and she seemed like one of the most normal of the five finalists. She sang for her talent, and she performed very well. I loved her evening dress, which was a long yellow gown. She was very smart in answering her questions, too. (One of my favorites that stayed until they narrowed it to the top ten, was Miss Oklahoma.) This year they added a new competition. Usually the contests are: evening wear, swim suits, questions, and talent, but this year they added "casual wear." In this new competition, they model an outfit that was previously owned before the competition, something that would be a "normal" outfit that they would wear. In my opinion, this competition was an ok addition.
So far, school is going well, and I like all of my teachers. I don't have too much homework yet, but i'm sure it's coming! This year i started a new subject: Spanish. It isn't too difficult yet, but so far we have learned the colors, the months, the seasons, the numbers to thirty, the days of the week, and simple phrases.
Hi! I went to the dog building first!!!! This is the cutest building in the whole fair. I spent practically half an hour in there, looking at the dogs. (Although, I do recommend staying away from the far end of the building, because that is the area in which they show surgery. They show it on a big screen, and unless you like that kind of thing, I would just look at the cute dogs.) They have some really cute yorkshire terriers, and shelties, and a few larger dogs, too. The next place we went to was the Colosseum to watch the horse show. (Horselover's request.) Well, you can imagine our surprise when the guy in the middle announces: "Let the cow show begin!!!" In came numerous amounts of cows with their owners. They had all kinds of breeds and colors and spots. I never knew that there were so many kinds of cows. Well, the show began, and we decided to stay a little while. Well, a brown cow ended up winning, and i was mystified as to why. (It looked the same as any other cow in my opinion.) Then the announcer says, "This cow has beautiful hip structure. His coloring is perfect, and he has a great face." Hmmm... I didn't know that a cow could have a great face. (I apologise if this section is offensive to cow owners or cow showers.)
After that we went to see the largest pig contest. Is all i can say is that i would much rather watch the baby piglets.
We aren't a big ride family, so we pretty much skipped the ride section. There was one ride, though, that we went on. THE GIANT SLIDE!!! i love this ride!!! It is not scary (unless you're afraid of heights), its really fun, and not too fast. This is my favorite ride!
Have you ever noticed how disgusting some fair food is? Here is a list of fair food that is very unique. (unique meaning gross!!!)
1. Deep fried candy bars. (You either love them or hate them.)
2. Pizza on a stick. (The fair comes up with EVERYTHING on a stick.)
3. Cheese curds. (Gross!!!)
4. Pickle on a stick. (This might actually not be too bad.)
5. Alligator on a stick. (I have never actually tried this, but: THEY ACTUALLY USE ALLIGATOR MEAT!!! That is really disgusting.)
6. Cheese on a stick. (I'd rather go for solid cheese. You know, the kind that comes in blocks.)
These are just a few of the weird and disgusting food at the fair. Here is a list of some of the best foods there.
1. Sweet Martha's Cookies. (These are delicious chocolate chip cookies!!!)
2. malts at the dairy barn. (YUM!!)
3. Snow cones. (These are good no matter where you get them.)
4. French fries. (French fries are so good at the State Fair!)
5. mini donuts. (I LOVE mini donuts! its also really cool to watch the donut makers. They have little machines that put he dough into the oil, and then it goes around in a circle, and then it gets flipped, etc. I spend too much time at that stand!)
6. Pronto pups. (or hot dogs, whichever you prefer. But for pronto pups, it has to be the real thing. it can be corn dogs.)
7. Taffy. (This is really delicious, until you watch them make it. You see the large sweaty guys kneading the taffy around in their fingers. At least the taffy tastes good.)
Well, that's my commentary on the food.
By the way, have you ever notivced how year after year, a new "thing on a stick" is added to the unique menu???
hello!!! School is almost here! I thought that our summer went quickly, but I heard about some other school schedules that i wouldnt like:
1. Some states go to school for three months, and then take a month of vacation. This would be kind of cool, but I would most likely forget everything that i had just learned since you get a vacation so soon after you have learned the information. Otherwise, it might be ok.
2. I just recently heard of a school that only had ONE MONTH vacation. One month is definetly not enough. If I can't do everything I want to do in three months, how would you do anything in one? But on the bright side: I guess that you would get longer Christmas and Easter (and whatever else you get holidays for.) holidays.
3. Year round school. This one speaks for itself. NOOOO!!!! But this is just my opinion. Maybe some child might actually like that???
4. This one is my schedule: Go to school until June, and go back after Labor Day. Three months, and the summer. Last night was puppykid's birthday, and we celebrated by going to a really great movie called FREAKY FRIDAY!! It was really funny, and starred the hysterical Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan from "The Parent Trap." The movie was re-make of the original, which i saw a couple years ago. Re-makes arent usually as good as the original, but this movie was as good, if not better. The plot is a little confusing at first, but you catch on after a little while. The mother and daughter switch bodies after fighting endlessly. They both gain new perspective on each other's lives, and are very funny while doing it. Anna (Lindsay Lohan) learns that her mom's life isnt as easy as she thought (to her surprise), and Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) finds out that high school isn't at all as easy as she thought. (And the rock band that Anna belongs to isn't very simple either.) After they find all of this out, they still do not know how to change back, and Tess' wedding is the next day!! I recommend this movie to everyone, a child would love it and so would an adult. It just came out yesterday, so it should be on in the theaters for awhile.
athdancer
Today is my seventh birthday! I can't wait for the movies "Freaky Friday" and "Uptown Girls" to come out! They look really good. "Freaky Friday" stars Jamie Lee Curtis, and "Uptown Girls" stars Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning. I saw the original Freaky Friday movie, which was made awhile ago. It was really cute, and I think that the new one will be, too. One of the last movies I saw was Legally Blonde 2. It was really good! It was really funny, and it had a good ending. The ending suggested that there might be a third movie out, too. My predicted title is: "Legally Blonde Three: Elle For President!" Anyway, that's just my suspicion. I liked the first one better though. They pushed animal rights way too much in the second movie. I mean, sure I am for "saving the whales" or whatever it might be (In this case animal testing.), but the WHOLE movie was centered around that topic, which got a little old. Anyway, I know that Horselover gave a list of movie reviews already.
Puppykid's birthday is on Wednesday, and we had a family celebration tonight. She got alot of cool presents! Happy Birthday Kathryn!!!!!
Well... One of my favorite new shows is "American juniors"! If you haven't seen this show, you should tune in on Tuesday at 8:00/7:00 central. The show is a singing contest, and there is only one spot left for the last member of the singing group. At the end of the show, the viewers vote via phone. The results show is on Wednesday at 8:30/7:30 central. This show tells who made it into the last spot in the group. The suspense is mounting!...... My personal favorites include Danielle White and Jordan McCoy. They both have really voices. (Then again, everyone on that show has a good voice!)
I don't think I've posted much recetly, I've been pretty busy. If haven't seen the show What Not To Wear, you should definitly watch it sometime. It's on TLC. There's also a What Not To Wear book that's pretty cool. Even though it's only August 3rd, everyone is talking about "back to school" stuff. You can't even walk into a mall without being swarmed by huge back to school window displays. It's kind of depressing actually. It's not even close to fall yet!!! WE DON'T GO BACK TO SCHOOL FOR ANOTHER MONTH EXACTLY!!!!! But since the back to school stuff has taken over, I have been trying to figure out what's really cool this fall. I think Cargo Pants are pretty popular. There is nothing that stands out yet, though. I'll let you know when I find that one thing that's in every window, though! I've seen some good movies recently:
Legally Blonde 2: It wasn't nearly as good as the first one. The whole thing is about animal rights!
Spy Kids 3-D: It was alright, again, not as good as the first two.
How to Deal: This one was really good! It was a little depressing because everything goes wrong all the time, but on the whole it was good.
Alex and Emma: It was pretty good (probably more interesting to adults than 14 year old girls, but my friend and I were bored so we went to see it). It's one of those movies that you can't really think of anything big that happened in the movie, but it was still good.
I really want to see Freaky Friday and Uptown Girls!!!
Hi! I just got back from dance camp. It was really really fun! It was four days long, and we stayed at Cragun's Resort in Brainerd, MN. We danced for four hours each day, and learned a kick routine, two jazz routines, and a lyrical dance. We had a lot of free time, too. We went swimming in their indoor pool, the outdoor pool, and the beach!!! I can't wait to go back next year.
House Tip: Sorry, but i havent watched any decorating shows for the past four or so days. I do have a comment, though: There is a new trading spaces series, called "Trading Spaces Family." It's really cool!
Hi! I just got done with my first dance camp. I danced from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm this week. We learned a jazz routine, a kickline routine, and a dance with level one and level two. My muscles are really sore! In July, I have my second dance camp. We spend four days up North at Craigin's Resort, doing-what else-dancing! It should be really fun! I haven't been too active lately, but i have been watching "Trading Spaces" and "While You Were Out"!
House Tip: Never, ever paint a room all black. Maybe one wall, maybe all walls, but never the ceiling and the walls. It looks like a dungeon or something. Also, always remember that yellow and black create a very dark and bright contrast, and they don't always look the best together. Although, if you are trying to create the "lightning storm" look, it works great!
I can't wait to see the movie sequel "Legally Blonde Two: Red, White, and Blonde". It should be really cool! If you haven't seen the first movie ("Legally Blonde"), I'll fill you in. This girl: Elle Woods (actress Reese Witherspoon) wants to become a lawyer. She gets in, but it is only because of her looks. (Yes, she is blonde! Blondes rock!!!) Against all odds, Elle Woods becomes a great law student. She runs into many problems along the way, but the conclusion of the movie has a very happy ending! I loved the first movie, so this one should be great, too! Well, got to go!
Hi everyone! I'm sorry I haven't posted for so long! I've been really busy with end of the year activities and tests for school. One of my latest highlights was my dance recital. I danced three times: once for my jazz class, once for my kickline class, and once for my lyrical class. Nothing tragic happened, like last year when I fell off of the stage. JUST KIDDING! (I didn't actually fall off of the stage!) No, nothing awful happened, except that i forgot my routine for a second in my kickline dance. It was really fun, though, and i am looking forward to dance camp in July. I am so glad that school is done! I have a lot more free time, and I don't have to wake up so early in the morning. Lately I've just been hanging out and getting together with my friends. I've been reading a lot of different books lately, and I have found that one of my favorite authors is Madeline L'Engle. My favorite book of hers that I've read so far has been "A Ring Of Endless Light." One reason I like this book is because I like dolphins, and I also like to read fantasy books. Today I went to Barnes And Noble, and bought a book called "Flipped." I haven't read the book yet, but a couple of my friends have and said it was good.
Hi! Here are some pictures of Alaska. Yesterday I saw a moose. It was a girl moose and didn't have any antlers. I am posting from Alaska! It's my first time here, and I think that Alaska is very cool! It's been unseasonably warm, and we have done alot of different things. Today we drove to a glacier, and it was really neat! We stopped quite a few times along the way, to take pictures of the mountains. i now have about twenty pictures of them! Along the way, puppykid saw a moose, I saw a bald eagle, and we saw two mountain goats high up on a cliff. We went off on a small side road, to a small pond. We didn't exactly understand what the little detour was for, we figured the pond was pretty in the summer. We noticed that people had thrown some small pebbles and rocks out on the frozen pond. We tried that too, and all of the sudden, when the rock hit the surface of the ice, it made the strangest sound that i've ever heard! It was a sort of metallic pling, and it was really cool! We threw a total of about twenty rocks on the pond, listening to the weird noise it made!!!! It was really fun! Yesterday we went around, and looked at all of the shops in Anchorage. We went on a long walk, and we saw a little of a parade. So far, our trip to Alaska has been quite succesful!!! We've all been really busy lately. I've been having a particularily large amount of homework. A new assignment that i got today is goin to be completely time consuming! We have to re-write the Constitution! The whole thing in our own words! Hopefully it will go well. Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!! I can't wait! The weekend is my favorite part of the week. Why? We get a small break from school. School is usually fun, because i get to see all of my friends, but i'm ready for a break! Well...
Tip: NEVER, EVER take down a ceiling fan if you are ever on Trading Spaces! The people on the show go ballistic! Once, a lady started crying because they took down her ceiling fan.
Cleaning Tip: If you live anywhere with snow, or just have a cabin or something, make sure to vacuum your entry way floors at least three times a day. I just had a completely wonderful time helping clean out ours! :) (Shoes track in more than I thought!)
House Tip: If you have a room that you are re-doing, I personally wouldn't go with painting the ceiling black. It makes the room a little dark, and unless you have really light matching colors, you generally want to keep the ceiling white or light!
P.S.Don't forget to watch Star Search and American Idol!
This weekend, I a working on a speech ALL WEEKEND. It's Saturday morning about 11:00, and I plan to work on this speech until 2:00, when I will go riding and have showmanship practice until 5, when I will come home and work on the speech until I go to bed at about 11. I'll get up at 7 tomorrow morning and go to church. Then, I will come home and work on my speech until Superbowl halftime, when I will watch one of my favorite singers, Shania Twain, sing. Then, I will go back to my speech until about 8 (or whenever I finish!). I'm not sure if I'll even get time to eat. This is an extreamly hard speech!!!! It's a persuasive speech given infront of 70 kids. My topic is "The Death Penalty is Good." I'm almost done with research, but if anyone has ideas for my speech, e-mail me asap!! Enough about the speech. School is going well.....it's extreamly cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONLY 19 DAYS UNTIL I GO TO ARIZONA TO WATCH SCOTTSDALE!!! I'm just hanging out right now, the best way to spend a Saturday! This week included a particularily large amount of homework, so i'm happy that it's the weekend. I made it into our school's spelling bee last week, and the actual spelling bee is this week. I'm enjoying school, and I'm having fun being with my friends.
House tip: Don't cover a whole couch with thick, puffy, brown faux fur. It looks a little bit like a bear is hibernating in your living room. You might want to trim it down or something first, so it won't be so puffy. Personally, I'd just cover some throw pillows or something, instead of a whole couch. If you want your living room to look sort of like a bear's den, though, go ahead. (From "While You were Out.")
Bonus Tip: In my opinion, DON'T EVER paint clashing colors in stripes. It looks pretty hideous. Picture bright pink and bright orange stripes on your living room wall. Doesn't look the best, does it!? Just as I thought, it's a little MUCH isn't it?
Athdancer
Hi! I've been REALLY busy with all kinds of events, and haven't gotten a chance to write anything! My friend LAdancer is over at my house. We've mostly been fooling around on one of my new Christmas gifts, The Sims Vacation. Right now we're listening to some of our favorite songs on the computer. Pennsylvania was really fun. It was nice to see my relatives, and all of the different history attractions were interesting. My favorite thing that we saw was the Liberty Bell. Well... On Trading Spaces the other day, they did something that was quite interesting. They put up a runner around the wall that was army print. They then painted the walls light un-matching colors, and it all looked very busy and...interesting. Then they filled the room with some unique mismatched furniture pieces. It would't be what I'd pick, but... they might like it. For Christmas, I recieved a funny gift, having to do with a post I put up. It's a grass growing kit! Earlier on, I posted about a pretty strange looking counter. They had grass growing in the counter! Now I can have my very own personal grass indoors. We have to go home tomorrow, unfortunately!
Hi! But that's fine with me that we don't start on that Monday! And, that we have a longer Spring Break! Which is, as I said, perfectly okay with me! So far....Christmas Break has been good. I haven't done much, though. I went to a party on Saturday night and that's about it. It's Horselover. Yes, I'm still alive, I've just been quite busy. Thanksgiving was good, I went to Nebraska to visit my relatives. For Christmas, we're going to Pennsylvania to visit some other relatives. School is going well. There's not too much to say about it.....HORSES! My favorite topic. Chloe and I are doing well. I am preparing for next show season which starts in early April I believe. I'm not sure, though. We watched some English episodes of Trading Spaces (called Changing Rooms there) a few days ago. One word: FRIGHTENING. The rooms were odd colors (like BRIGHT orange) with odd "matching" furniture (like RED FLOWERS. Or PINK STRIPES). Oh, I have nothing against bright orange wall, pink stripes, and red flowered couches. It's just that together....they create a ah.... Negative Chi (As Vern on Trading Spaces says). And, I have nothing against English designers. (Maybe the ones on Changing Rooms are a little off their rockers, who knows?) There are only 2 weeks left before Break!! The only bad thing about that is we have a lot of very important assignments due in these next two weeks. Like, for example, this week is worth 200 points in Global Studies. I better go hit the books.......(Actually, I'm going to bed!)
By the way, today is my Grandfather's birthday. Yesterday I went to a friend's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. My friend's name is Chloe, same as Horselover's horse! I had a lot of fun. Last night I also went to my friend's house. Her name is Alexis. My other friend Isabel was there too. We dressed up and had a parade. We ate chocolate cake and ice cream with caramel on it too. Today we got our Christmas tree. It is pretty big. We bought it at a new place we hadn't been to before called Pahl's. A few days ago I discovered a new fruit that I really like a lot--a pomegranate! Here is a picture:
My Dad eats pomegranates seeds and all, but I suck out the juice and spit out the seeds in the middle. The first one is A Bear Called Paddington. I like Paddington a lot. He lives in London with a family called the Browns. He likes to eat marmalade. He wears an old hat that he has had ever since he was little. The Browns found him at Paddington Station. That is a train station in London. That is how his name became Paddington Bear. When, they found him he was wearing a tag that said, "Please take care of this bear." Below you can see a picture of Paddington with the tag.
I have never been to Paddington Station, but I have been to King's Cross station. That is where Harry Potter leaves for his wizard school. And Paddington Bear goes on the London subway. I have done that too!
Speaking of marmalade, there is another favorite book of mine. It's called Orlando the Marmalade Cat. He also wears a tag but I don't know what it says. I have a book called Orlando: A Trip Abroad. He goes on trains and he goes on boats. He is trying to find his family and goes to the beach. Orlando is orange and yellow colored and he has a lunch box. His box also has marmalade in it! And Paddington has marmalade in his suitcase! It is probably better to have it in the lunch box. Here is something funny about Paddington: he thought he might be hungry, because he didn't eat a big breakfast. So he stuck a piece of bacon in his suitcase and it stuck out! Pretty funny, huh? On Halloween, I went to a Halloween party! It was at my friend Jana's house, and she invited some friends, and we went Trick Or Treating. we went up the block, and down the other side. When we came to her neighbor's house, We went up to the door, recieved our candy, and then we walked down the driveway. My friend Brooke and I decided to take a shortcut through their yard. There was a limp figure with a big black cape on, lots of thick, long, curly black hair,and a weird face, leaning against a tree in the yard. It held a big stick in his hand. Well, Brooke and I took off across their yard, and I went right up to the figure. "Look at this thing hanging from the tree," I told Brooke. "It almost looks real!" The huge thing jumped up and yelled YAAHHHH! And shook the stick at us. Well, that just about put us through the ceiling. Brooke and I screamed, and ran. He followed us to the next three houses. My friend Karissa was walking down the street, swinging her bag, about three minutes after Brooke and I had discovered him. She swung her bag, and it hit something. She turned around very slowly, and started screaming and running. Well, that made the rest of us take off, and we all didn't know why we were running :-)
This morning, we went with our dad to the radio station. He was on the Hugh Hewitt Show! He was mostly talking about his blog, www.powerline.blogspot.com. It was really fun to see how everything worked. (The best part was that there were Krispy Kreme dougnuts there!) Well....
On the TLC show, While You Were Out, never, ever lose track of where the person who was supposed to be out of the house is. On the latest W.Y.W.O., The crew lost track of the husband. They finally located him, and when they did, he was two blocks away! Got to go! I've been really busy lately. Middle School is kinda overwhelming, and I've got lotsa homework most days. In school, we're doing a mock trial. I get to be the prosecuting attourney with one of my best friends. IT"S THE WEEKEND! Well... I've been watching Trading Spaces,(What a surprise!) and I have a House Tip: NEVER paint green stripes on a wood floor. It does not look very pretty in a traditional-style living room, and if you're on the show While You Were Out, pretend you like what they're doing, even if you don't. I just saw an episode where they were doing a Mexican theme to a home office. They had lots of bright colors, and they looked nice. The lady on the show went balistic! On the show, you are asked to answer three multiple choice questions. She said that she felt "Too stressed out" to answer the third. The host started to talk to her, and she said,"I don't feel like talking!" And walked away. She was rude!!! Well, byebye for now!
~Athdancer
Hi everyone. It's pretty funny when the neighbors don't like their room and start crying!!!! One group put crystals hanging from the canopy bed, which looked good. Just NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER hang some weird-looking stars from your ceiling. It looks really goofy. Little stars might be cool, but these HUGE stars that they used, it just didn't look right. Plus, never make one whole room one color!! And if you ever decide to be on Trading Spaces, never paint your neighbor's dresser a weird color when they tell you not to, because most likely both people will end of looking dumb. My friend and I have decided we're going to be on that show, but we will coordinate the one room with the rest of the house, cause it looks odd if only one room is completely done, and the rest of the house isn't. Or if one of the rooms is traditional, and one is modern???? Another show that is really fun is While You Were Out. It's like Trading Spaces, but like someone's husband leaves for 2 days and the wife redoes a room for them. Basically any show on TLC (ex. a Makeover Story, a Dating Story) is great, except A Personal Story, which is pretty gross most of the time because most of the things they're doing are, well, personal. Like getting surgery or something. I did great, but I didn't place as well as I had hoped. I got two 3rds out of about 7 or 8. It was a saddlebred show, so naturally, the saddlebreds came in first, no matter how good us hunt seaters looked!! Plus, the judge was a saddlebred judge, so that helps them. Anyway, the showing season is over for this year. I have my Tri-State dinner coming up in November. In Tri-State, you get points for how you place. So, depending on the show, first place might be 20 points, 2nd might be 10, etc. You add up your points and whoever has the most out of your division (or group) wins a trophy. There is a trophy for Pleasure (judging the horse) and equitation (the rider) and there are reserves for each. So, I am hoping to get 2 trophies and I hope that at least one is a Champion. In school, we're doing MAT 7 tests, which are a pain. But, I'm surviving and I'm finishing them pretty easily. I have my last day of school swimming tomorrow- oh bummer! NOT! I've been looking forward to it for 2 weeks (since we started :-)) Next year (back to horse shows) I am planning on showing walk/trot/canter, and doing a few Class A shows, a step up from the regular shows. For those of you non-horsey people, Schooling shows (where I am now) are the first level, then A shows, then Regionals, then Youth Nationals, then Nationals. I would like to make it to Nationals some day, but Youth Nationals before college is really what I want to do, even though I realize it's sort of a stretch, and would pretty much empty the bank accounts, but still......I can dream. I am hoping to lease Chloe for another year or so before either buying a horse, or leasing a younger and "showier" horse. Bubye
for now!!
~~~Horselover~~~

Today is athdancer's birthday party! I usually play defense, and my coach, who plays on the Eastview High School soccer team, says that I'm the best defense!
House Tip: always use book shelves for what their name means-to hold books. You can always add pottery, pictures, and other decorative touches, but try to always have at least a couple books!
Decorative tip: Never, ever use faux grass for carpeting, table coverings, or in your garden. (I personally wouldn't even use the "grass" look, but hey, if you want to bring the outdoors in, go ahead.)
Bonus third tip: I love fountains and goldfish ponds! Blogger has been broken for a few days, so we haven't been able to post. This morning it is kind of rainy, and I am going to athdancer's soccer game soon. Last night we went to a wedding. It was kinda cool, but the reception was better. We didn't stay too late, but it was fun because I saw my first grade teacher there! Well, I am riding today when I get a chance, and it is one of the only days ever that I am not looking forward to it, because its cold and wet. But, I have a horse show next weekend, and I need to get some work done and some good practice before. We were thinking of going apple picking one of these days, but it's very cold at the moment, so I think we're going to hold off for now.
~~~Horselover~~~
Yesterday I got my school pictures back. The first week of school went pretty well. This was my first week of middle school. It's pretty overwhelming, changing classes, keeping track of all of the many sheets of homework, and all of the new classes. It's pretty fun, and I have one or more people that I know in each class. I have a locker this year, and mine sticks!!! Even if you get the combonation right, it won't open the first...second...third...fourth time, and then it will either pop open and hit you in the stomach, or it will stick there until you yank on it hard enough so that it will pry open. Well... we just got back from bowling at this cool place called Jillian's in the Mall of America. I lost to my six year old sister, puppykid!!! I'm just a little rusty.... We had some of the strangest people next to us bowling. There was a huge guy who kept yelling and putting a towel over his head, and then there was this girl who was having her eighteenth birthday, and we couldn't figure out if the boy next to her was her boyfriend, or her brother. Then we couldn't figure out if the lady was her mom,and if the guy was her dad, or step-dad, brother's/boyfriend's dad, or a friend. STRANGE FAMILY!!! Well, in Trading Spaces news... House tip: Don't EVER paint wood floors black with polka dots. It looks really bad. (If you haven't already guessed, I'm pretty much against polka dots galore.) Trading Spaces fans-did you see the special marathon of the Trading Spaces hosts on different TLC shows? The host, Mindy Paige, was on "A Wedding Story." She cried a total of eleven times! (We counted.) The guy she was marrying cried twice. Then, two of the designers went on "A Makeover Story," and recieved head to toe makeovers for an award's ceremony. Thanks for reading!!!
We've had a nice weekend. Last night I slept in my big sisters' room in a sleeping bag. We just saw a deer run across the road in front of our house. Sunday School started up again today. I think we might go bowling later this afternoon if the big girls get their homework done! I made up my own homework since I'm only in kindergarten. Horselover and I made up Old Maid flash cards that have the days of the week, the days of the week in Spanish, and colors in English and Spanish. You match them up in pairs. There is an Old Maid too. Horselover invented that game.
Today wasd the first day of school!! Tonight we went biking to my bus stop so we knew for sure where it is. My teacher is Miss Larson. My Mom and I went to school a couple of days ago and we saw my name on the wall next to the door. I finally got a locker! I'm excited to start school. I have all of my supplies. I talked to my sisters tonight and they have been busy buying supplies and clothes too. I'm going to wear my flower dress tomorrow for my first day. I'll let you know how it goes.
Tomorrow is the last day of summer vacation. Puppykid is extreamly happy about it. Athdancer is excited about going to a new school, but doesn't really want to go back to classes. I am NOT excited about any of it, except seeing friends. I am not going to a new school, so it won't be that exciting, plus, at the end of this year, my friends and I have to split up to go to different high schools. So, I'm actually not looking forward to this year. I just tried to fix the mouse on the computer, but I sort-of broke it (for the moment at least.) For example, it takes me about 10 minutes to close a window because the mouse keeps getting stuck. Tomorrow I have to go school shopping beucase, well, school starts on Tuesday. At Canterbury Park, I actually won 9 dollars, of course, I'm sort-of under-age, so it wasn't my money to start with. Oh well. I didn't get to ride today. I was sorta hot and stormy. I better go, I'm supposed to be "getting on a school schedule" (or something like that?) Happy Labor Day!!!
We went to the Arboretum today. The Arboretum is a place with a lot of pretty flowers and different kinds of trees too. If you go on a three-mile bike ride there are a ton of trees. My Dad and Mom and I went bike-riding there. I rode on the Trail-A-Bike behind my Mom. It was hard to get up some of the hills. I had a Dreamsicle to eat; it was really good. It is a kind of orange popsicle. There is a pretty fountain that splashed all over us because it was a little windy.
Here are some jokes my friend sent me. I thought they were hilarious! Hope you do, too! P.S. The comments in () are from me!
1. Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an
> > > ambulance.
2. Only in America......are there handicap-parking places in front of a
> > > skating rink.
3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to
> > the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can
> buy cigarettes at the front.
4. Only in America......do people order double cheeseburgers, large
> fries, and a diet coke.
5. Only in America......do banks leave both doors open and then chain
> the pens to the counters.
6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in
> the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage. (why DO we do that???)
7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls
> and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't
> want to talk to in the first place.
8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns
> in packages of eight. (You would think by now they would have figured this one out?!?!)
10. Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with
> Braille lettering.
> > >
EVER WONDER
> > >
> > > Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?
Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?
Why don't you ever see the headline "Psychic Wins Lottery"? (No kidding)
Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?
Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid is made with real lemons? (This one is weird!)
> > > Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?
When dog food is new and improved tasting, who tests it?
Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?
Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?
You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why
> > don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?
Why don't sheep shrink when it rains? (Hehe!)
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?
If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?
> > > In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through
> > > stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods. (These comments are from the person that sent this to me)
> > >
> > > On a Sears hairdryer: Do not use while sleeping.
On a bag of Fritos: ..You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside. (the shoplifter special?)
> > >
On a bar of Dial soap: "Directions: Use like regular soap." (and that would be how??...)
> > >
On some Swanson frozen dinners: "Serving suggestion: Defrost." (but, it's "just" a suggestion.)
> > >
> > > On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom): "Do not turn upside down." (well...duh, a bit late, huh!)
> > >
> > > On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding: "Product will be hot after heating." (...and you thought????...)
> > >
> > > On packaging for a Rowenta iron: "Do not iron clothes on body." (but wouldn't this save me more time?)
> > >
> > > On Boot's Children Cough Medicine:"Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication." (We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5-year-olds with head colds off those forklifts.)
> > >
> > > On Nytol Sleep Aid: "Warning: May cause drowsiness." (and... I'm taking this because???....)
> > >
> > > On most brands of Christmas lights: "For indoor or outdoor use only." (as opposed to...what?)
> > >
> > > On a Japanese food processor: "Not to be used for the other use." (now, somebody out there, help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)
> > >
> > > On Sunsbury's peanuts: "Warning: contains nuts." (talk about a news flash)
> > >
> > > On an American Airlines packet of nuts: "Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts." (Step 3: maybe, uh...fly Delta?)
> > >
> > > On a child's superman costume: "Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly." (I don't blame the company. I blame the parents for this one.)
> > >
> > > On a Swedish chainsaw: "Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals." (..was there a lot of this happening somewhere?)
Tomorrow, I am going to the racetrack with my friend. I think it closes Labor Day, so it should be fun!! There are 3 days left of summer break, excpet today was sort of the last day, because Saturday, Sunday, and Labor Day we would get off anyway. I am excited for school, but then again, I want it to be summer year-round! I still need to do my school shopping. I'll probably do that on Labor Day, because I tend to do everything on the last possible day, at the last possible second. I am trying to go to bed early and wake up early. It's not happening. Oh well, I guess I should enjoy the last few days of summer break!!
Hi! We just got back from our friends the Johnson's house. We went swimming, and had a great time, like we always do! Like one time, we went to Red Robin for dinner. The kids begged the parents for quarters, and went to play the games. Deb ran out of quarters, and decided to try to stick her hand up the claw machine. She put her hand up the chute that drops the toy, and pushed her hand up farther. She was just about to reach an Austin Powers doll, when she tried to bring her hand back down. The chute was made so that anyone like Deb who tried to put their hand up got stuck! While all this was happening, a waitress was looking at us as if we had lost our minds. Alex ran and got their mom, Sally. Deb was kneeling by the claw machine, and we were laughing SOOO hard! She finally worked her hand out, and when she finally did, she said,"Oh, man, I was SOOO close!!!" My tip : Never try to stick your hand up the claw machine, you might find you're going to get stuck. (Especially anything from a cheap machine, which wouldn't be worth it if you had to get your arm amputated.)
House Tip: Don't mount a huge wooden structure in the shape of a stomach on your ceiling, it looks really weird. (From Trading Spaces.)
Clothes Tip: Don't wear a lime green dress with polka dots to anything that will be televised or reported on. (From some fashion magazine.)
Last night, I went to the State Fair to see my friends ride on the horse show. There were 14 poeple in the first class, and my friend Liz got 5th. In the second class, none of my friends placed (came in the top 6). There were 15 people in that class, but my friends were the only kids. I didn't get home until 12:30 PM. I am going to the State Fair again next week. My Mom and I went for five days. It was in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. I played the piano in three classes every day and sometimes practiced in rooms. We stayed in the Comfort Suites Motel. Our friends the Johnsons were there too. They play the violin. On Friday I played "Mary Had a Little Lamb" with two hands in a recital. After that we drove home. It is almost five hours away. While we were there we bought a magic set and a book. I read the book in the car on the way home. This morning my Dad helped me learn some magic tricks. In one of them, you put a ball into a box and I use the magic wand to find which box has the ball in it.
Vacation was a lot of fun, and we met some new kids there. In a few days we are leaving for Nebraska to visit my aunt and uncle. It should be fun, but the drive is pretty long and boring, nothing to look at but cornfields!!! Oh, yeah, and the occasional cow or chicken farm. Unless, of course, we stop at a mall on the way. Now THAT would be fun. I have to leave my horse for another 4 days :-( which is bad, but when I can back from last vacation she was very good and hadn't forgotten anything, so I guess it will be okay.
Hi! I got back from vacation yesterday. I met two new friends--Lauren and Kendra. We went swimming and played on the beach. My birthday was last week so we had an underwater birthday party. (We used underwater plates and stuff, the party wasn't under water!) I went fishing but I didn't catch anything. We went on lots of boat rides. I was in a scavenger hunt and my team won! I was in a treasure hunt too, and my team won that also. At the end we were on a camping island looking for a medallion. We spotted the medallion high up in a tree and I went up on another girl's shoulders to get it down. Now that I'm six my Dad taught me a new poem that starts "When I was one, I had just begun." In a few minutes, my Mom and I are leaving for piano camp. It's in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. I haven't been there before so I'm not sure what it will be like, except that I'll play the piano every day. I'll let you know when I get back. Bye for now.
